Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island called West Island. Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact, the West Island includes everything westward of Lachine. Lachine. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be a dancer but an increase in her height resulted in her outgrowing her dance partner. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I surpassed my male counterparts, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice of her drama teacher at high school that led her to the path she needed. Teacher who recommended she try to get a role for the school's annual show. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian participant.
